Welcome to our Employee Spotlight series, where we take a moment to recognize the incredible individuals who drive the heartbeat of our organization. Our hope is to shine a light on the diverse talents, unique personalities, and wonderful achievements of the people who make up our treatment community. We invite you to get to know the faces behind Momentum's success stories and learn more about the people who make our workplace a vibrant and dynamic home.
What do you enjoy most about working here?
I thoroughly enjoy being able to build healthy, trusting relationships throughout Momentum as I believe this to be the foundation of our work. At Momentum, we have the flexibility to think outside of the box when it comes to our client interactions. We're given the freedom to utilize various environments and therapeutic activities to build deeper connections, and this is something I’m very grateful for. Ultimately, the individuals and families that take a step towards recovery with us, coupled with a caring, supportive, and diverse team at Momentum make this a fulfilling experience that I am passionate about.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement during your time at the company?
The opportunity to see individuals break down their walls and open up to others in a new way is something that always stands out to me because that is often when the true healing begins. An important goal of recovery at Momentum consists of establishing new areas of life outside of substances that are exciting and fulfilling. This could look like making music and playing live shows in the community, finding a new career path that you're passionate about, competing in various sports, among many others. Seeing individuals light up when they find these new passions is extremely memorable and enjoyable for me. I am thrilled to be able to support everyone as they near the end of their time at Momentum and start to plan ahead in their recovery towards a life of greater independence, fulfillment, community, and purpose.
Outside of work, what are your hobbies or interests?
In addition to counseling, I love going to the beach, fishing, playing golf and basketball, cooking, and spending time with my partner and our cat, Poe.
If you could give one piece of advice to new employees, what would it be?
It is a true privilege to be able to be a part of our client’s journeys in recovery during a time of unknowns, stress, and sensitive subject matter. My one piece of advice for any new employees is to not take this aspect for granted. Building healthy, sustainable, and trusting relationships are critical to this process for all involved and let that be the primary focus of your work.
